A Hotel Afternoon with Miranda Makaroff and Alba Moya

There are work sessions that are pure craftsmanship, and then there are those that are, quite literally, a shot of pure energy. The afternoon we met up to get Miranda Makaroff ready for the charity Gala against AIDS in Barcelona (the legendary event hosted by the Fundación Lucha contra las Infecciones, famous for its red-carpet dress code) definitely belongs to the second group.

Heading into a styling gig alongside the incredible makeup artist Alba Moya is already a guarantee a great time, but when you add Miranda into a hotel room mix, the energy instantly multiplies by a thousand.

Miranda is one of those people who completely blows your mind. She has the unstoppable energy of a kid and a sense of creativity that just oozes from her pores. While Alba and I were setting up our tools, the space transformed into a whirlwind of ideas, laughter, and music. It’s not just that she’s fun; she has this magnetic light that surprises and connects with absolutely everyone in the room.

When it comes to hair, working with someone with such a strong personality means the goal is never to "disguise" them, but to elevate the unique freshness they already possess. We went for a look that captured that fun, avant-garde edge she pulls off like no one else, while keeping the polished finish a major red carpet demands.

In the end, seeing her head out to the event looking radiant and radiating that signature good vibe is one of the most rewarding parts of this job. Just one of those stress-free afternoons that reminds you that fashion, above all, is about play and having fun.
